Process Safety Management

ChemE Consulting provides full service support for Process Safety Management and Risk Management Programs including program development, PHAs, compliance audits, and development of mechanical integrity procedures and process safety information.

PSM and RMP Program Manuals have been developed and implemented at chlor-alkali plant, primary metals, power generating plants and pulp mills.

ChemE Consulting conducts Process Hazards Analysis using HAZOP, What-If, What-If Checklist techniques.  ChemE uses the PHA Pro 8 software for documenting PHA and LOPA analysis, recommendations and revalidations.  PHAs have been conducted for chlorine liquid, anhydrous ammonia, chlorine dioxide, methane, foul condensate, and other covered process chemicals.

ChemE Consulting conducted a Compliance Audit for primary metals production facility using chlorine vaporization and direct chlorine of rare metal sands and separations using aqua ammonia.  Compliance audits were also conducted for chemical plants, pulp mills, power generating stations and water and wastewater treatment plants.

ChemE Consulting assists industrial customers in developing or updating their Mechanical Integrity programs.  A chlorine plant’s preventive and predictive maintenance program was evaluated against code recommendations like API and ASME.  Where gaps existed, preventive and predictive maintenance procedures were developed and added to the plant’s Mechanical Integrity program.

Process Safety Information programs were developed for water and wastewater treatment, pulp and paper, and chlorine plants including developing of heat and material balances, P&IDs, equipment lists and controls lists for documenting safe operating ranges and interlocks.  Relief device sizing calculations were developed for chlorine, chlorine dioxide, steam and water PRVs.
