ChemE Consulting provides expertise in developing treatment solutions to chemical processes. Our staff conduct lab-scale treatment studies and cost effectively scale-up treatment processes to skid-mounted or fixed chemical processes.
Skid mounted wastewater treatment systems comprised of oil-water separator, gravity chemical mix tanks and clarifier with or without sludge dewatering are commonly available components. ChemE Consulting will help an owner select the best treatment skid and develop design drawings to allow for streamlined installation.
Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) technology is a wastewater treatment technology specifically designed for targeted removal of oil & grease (O&G) and total suspended solids (TSS). ChemE Consulting supported re-purposing of a DAF unit, flocculator and rotary belt press for solids dewater at a fish processing plant.
Ammonia treatment skids can use a variety of different technologies depending on the starting and desired ending level of ammonia desired. High levels of ammonia can be removed by pH adjustment and air-stripping. Lower levels of ammonia can be removed by acidification and ion exchange resin. For very low levels of ammonia, a chemical absorption treatment using a sulfinate compound can allow a plant to meet effluent discharge parameters.
ChemE Consulting designs and builds chemical process skids for small scale, onsite addition of disinfection chemicals including chlorine and chlorine dioxide. Chlorine is produced from the electrolytic conversion of salt water to generate the hypochlorite ion (the active ingredient in bleach) to control biologic growth in wastewater and water treatment systems. Chlorine dioxide is generated by the direct electrolytic conversion of sodium chlorite to generate the more selective biocide, chlorine dioxide.
